Two-pronged Battery Atlanta development broke ground in 2023; nearly 600 new residences planned. Two years after work began, a project set to alter the skyline around the Atlanta Braves stadium is starting to ascend.

The first high-rise facet of The Henry—the name nods to late Braves legend and Baseball Hall of Fame member Hank Aaron—broke ground in summer 2023 on Circle 75 Parkway at The Battery Atlanta, the entertainment district attached to the Braves’ Truist Park. It’s replacing parking lots and an eight-story office building.

The first tower at The Henry, as developed by Nebraska-based Goldenrod Companies, calls for 502 apartments, retail space, and a pedestrian bridge eliminating the need for residents to cross a four-lane street to enter The Battery.

The Henry’s second phase will feature a 250-key Marriott Autograph hotel alongside 54 condos (the district’s first for-sale housing) and some additional retail space, according to Goldenrod. Renderings indicate both buildings will stand more than 20 stories tall, lording over the outfield walls of left and centerfield at Truist Park.

We’ve reached out to Goldenrod officials for information on when phase one is scheduled to deliver—and when phase two might begin construction. This story will be updated with any additional details that come.

Other aspects of the phase-one apartment building will see retail described as “elevated” at the base, a rooftop bar, WFH spaces, a “signature” pool, and a lounge with views of Atlanta’s skyline. Renderings indicate it will stand significantly taller than the 16-story Omni next door, which peers into the stadium today.

All told, The Henry is expected to include multiple walkover bridges, an amenity deck spanning more than 1 acre, plus multiple pools, dog parks, gyms, pickleball courts, and golf simulators. Goldenrod expects a “plethora” of food and beverage options to accompany all of that, with buildings featuring “world-class views in every direction,” per the company’s website.

The Henry scored $160 million in bond financing and tax breaks in 2022 despite objections from some members of the Cobb development authority who argued the project would be built without the help of public funding.

All told, the complex is expected to cost about a half-billion dollars.

The Henry is a partnership between Atlanta-based SK Commercial Realty, Goldenrod Companies, and the Braves’ real estate arm, Braves Development Company, with designs by Holland Basham Architects.

The two-pronged project will mark the most prominent change to the skyline around The Battery since TK Elevator’s new North American HQ took shape. But it’s not the only significant, recent investment around the entertainment district.

Just outside home plate gates, Braves Development Company has delivered a two-building, Class A office project that serves as the new national headquarters for Truist Securities, Truist’s full-service corporate and investment bank. The office complex will eventually house about 1,000 Truist Securities employees.

Elsewhere nearby, an apartment venture called Ellison Parkview opened last year on Windy Ridge Parkway, claiming what used to be 4 acres of hilly woods about a block west of the ballpark. It includes 298 rentals, 6,000 square feet of space for restaurants and retail, and a new rideshare pick-up and drop-off area.

In April, Braves Development Company officials announced they had acquired a six-building office complex across Interstate 75 from Truist Park as a palette for future development and growth, plus more parking for the district’s roughly 9 million annual visitors today.
